Our President 2026

Dear Fellow Bowlers

It was 1978 when I was welcomed into the game at Thorndon Bowls Club and then, little did I think that one day I would have the honour of becoming President of Suffolk County Bowls Association (S.C.B.A). Now, 48 years on and over 150 representative games for the County, I find myself following in the footsteps of some very respected names in the game. I will endeavour to uphold and enhance our County’s reputation.

It's been an amazing journey which seems to have slipped by in a flash but wouldn`t have been possible without the support and encouragement of my Club, my wife Margaret and my family. Whilst bowls has been at the centre of my journey so many friendships have been made and social occasions shared.

Until I stepped onto the Presidential Ladder, I thought I knew how the County worked but I have been astounded by the time and commitment our Executive Committee dedicates to running S.C.B.A.

I`ve gained so much knowledge over a short space of time which I intend to put to good use during my term in office. I have every confidence that 2026 will be as successful as 2025.

Andrew Burch did a fantastic job as our President last season. Thank you, Andrew, for what you have done for the game, all the support you have given me and the friendship formed. I will aspire to deliver the same standards as you did last year.

Happy Bowling everyone and I look forward to seeing many of you on and around the Green this season.

David Cattermole

S.C.B.A. President 2026

The 2024 Outdoor Finals

The finals this year were held at Kessingland Bowls Club. The weather was not particular kind to us, with rain appearing late in the last session of the Semi-FInals, The FInals were dry to lunch time then the heavens opened and it as only just possible to complete the FInals in the afternoon. Everything was completed but the presentation of trophies had to be made indoors in the clubhouse.

The last match of the AdamsTrophy

This year has been very close. Eventually Suffolk came out the winners of the southern section by Nine Points. It all came down to the last game, against Hunts, at home at Sproughton. This game was slightly strange as two of the opposition went to the wrong venue; going to a club to Norwich! We needed three rinks and the overall in order to confirm victory but, eventually won on all rinks for a good victory and a trip to Skegness. We will all of our players success there,
