President, Andrew Burch (Wrentham Bowls Club)

Our President 2025

Dear Bowls Family

In 1989, on my 21st Birthday, my father Peter said `come and have a game of Bowls with me`

My response was `it`s an old man’s game Dad`, however to keep him happy I joined him for a roll up at Wrentham, several roll ups later I was hooked.

So began my love of our great game that has introduced me to many friends in Suffolk and the wider bowls community.

During my time in bowls I’ve been heavily involved in admin for both my club and county and I’ve worked under and beside many influential individuals within the game who’ve helped me to this point, so I’d like to think I’ve served my apprenticeship.

At no point on my journey did I believe I’d be good enough to one day become President of this great association.

My thanks go to all those who have supported me along the way, non more so than members of my club Wrentham and my family, most notably my Father who led me to this moment and I’d hope he would be a very proud man as I am.

I look forward to making many new friends in 2025 and I wish you all an enjoyable year of bowling and I’ll be there along the way supporting all our teams and our individuals as we all try to make the year great for Suffolk.

Look out for each other and have a happy and healthy year.

Be Seeing You

The 2024 Outdoor Finals

By WebsiteCoordinator    03/08/25

The finals this year were held at Kessingland Bowls Club. The weather was not particular kind to us, with rain appearing late in the last session of the Semi-FInals, The FInals were dry to lunch time then the heavens opened and it as only just possible to complete the FInals in the afternoon. Everything was completed but the presentation of trophies had to be made indoors in the clubhouse.

The last match of the AdamsTrophy

By WebsiteCoordinator    03/08/25

This year has been very close. Eventually Suffolk came out the winners of the southern section by Nine Points. It all came down to the last game, against Hunts, at home at Sproughton. This game was slightly strange as two of the opposition went to the wrong venue; going to a club to Norwich! We needed three rinks and the overall in order to confirm victory but, eventually won on all rinks for a good victory and a trip to Skegness. We will all of our players success there,

Handbook Editor Needed

By WebsiteCoordinator    11/03/25

We are looking for a new Handbook Editor to take over from Kipp, who has done the job for a long time. If you feel that you could do this, or want more information on what it entails please contact Keith Crabbe (Kipp).

Without an editor we will be unable to continue producing handbooks.
